Paid In America,” was presented to Dawn Biese of Miller
Electric Manufacturing Company in Appleton , WI . The official
paycheck presentation attracted local media attention. ABC
affiliate WBAY-TV, which reaches 59,000 viewers, covered the
event, as well as CBS affiliate WFRV-TV, which reaches 41,000
viewers.

To promote the National Payroll Week 2003 Online Survey, APA
ran a radio segment on radio stations nationwide. This segment

Associated Press reporter Eileen Alt Powell interviewed APA
Executive Director Dan Maddux about NPW and ways to maximize
one’s paycheck for an article
that ran in 134 newspapers nationwide and enjoyed a readership
of approximately 9.2 million.
NPW Media Partner HRO World included a quarter-page
piece on NPW in the July/August issue of its magazine,
HRO Today, and featured www.americanpayroll.org
as the “Web
Site of the Month” in its September issue.
The NPW survey is a powerful way to focus national attention
on the payroll industry. It also generates interest from the
media. For example, USA Today cited
a finding from the survey.
HRO Today also published the survey
results in conjunction with a special feature on payroll
in its January/February 2004 issue.
Other publications nationwide ran versions of the survey
results release that was posted to the newswires.

The Society for Human Resource Management’s HR News
Online reporter Karen Robinson included a piece about
NPW and the survey in her August
28 posting of “HR News Briefs.” The site averages
approximately 185,000 hits daily.
The press release introducing the 2003 online survey titled,
“The Business of Paying Employees: Workers Asked to
Weigh in on Getting Paid In America,” was sent
nationally via Business Wire. Several Web sites picked it
up immediately, including Yahoo!
Finance, CBS MarketWatch, and
Lycos, among others.
The press release detailing the final survey results was also
sent via several different wire services, and was again picked
up online by sites such as Yahoo!
Biz, Excite Money, and
Lycos Finance.
